Sensing Alarms and Driving Relays
Using alarm inputs to trigger events in the VMS to automatically or manually drive relay outputs.
Solution:
Standard CCTV camera and alarm input (contact closure) signal are connected to the encoder. The encoder digitally compresses the signals for transmission across the Ethernet network. The VMS is configured to react to the alarm inputs and either alert the user, cause recording to occur or drive a relay in another (or the same) encoder or decoder.
There are two ways to view the video and be notified of alarm input contact closure activation:
- Use a decoder that decompresses the video for viewing using a standard CCTV video monitor and provides a relay output that can be connected to a signal device to notify the operator of the contact closure activation.
- With a PC using either the Bosch VMS software or a web browser to view video and monitor the status of the contact closure.
