How do I connect a dome or PTZ camera via RS485 to a VideoJet X?
All VideoJet X units support RS485 connections on its multi-purpose serial interface.
The RS485 as a 2-wire interface uses Data(+) and Data(-) signals in half-duplex operation. To achieve this, the differential transmit (Tx+, Tx-) and receive (Rx+, Rx-) signals of the 4-wire RS422 interface must be connected accordingly to run on a combined 2-wire link. The cable connection should look like:
Tx+ and Rx+ connected to cable Data(+)
Tx- and Rx- connected to cable Data(-)
Do Bosch IP cameras provide video content analysis?
Yes, Dinion IP and Flexidome IP cameras do support the same VCA as available in BVIP encoders:
- MOTION+
- IVMD 1.0 up to IVA 3.5
The new Autodome uses a different VCA algorithm as it needs auto-tracking. IVA is not available for these products yet.

Does system use SNMP alerting? If so, does system have an extended MIB?
Our units support SNMP MIB's and traps.
Do Bosch IP Network Video products have bandwidth throttling capabilities?
Yes, the bandwidth can be set to a target- and maximum bitrate on a per camera basis.
What are the bandwidth loading characteristics? For example, in order to adequately view video at "x" frames/second, one would need "y" kbit/s of available bandwidth.
Are there any network demands for installing Bosch IP Network Video servers?
Yes, the network should be installed by a certified network installer. Then when the customer application demands multicasting, the network switching equipment must support IGMP-snooping.
Do Bosch IP Network Video products integrate with the Cisco 3560 power injected network switch?
Yes.
What protocols are used for remote communication and management of Bosch IP Network Video products?
The Bosch Remote Control Protocol RCP+.
What protocols are used for remote alerting to Bosch IP Network Video products?
The Bosch Remote Control Protocol RCP+.
Is Bosch IP Network Video equipment capable of remote access and transmission?
Yes, all system components are IP addressable network devices and are accessed over a LAN or WAN via standard network protocols. With proper router permissions, transmission between gateways can be accomplished.

How is the transparent data handling of the VIP XD?
1.) When the VIP XD is connected to multiple (max. four) encoders and there is no transparent data from the encoders to the VIP XD, then the VIP XD sends his transparent data to all connected encoders.
2.) If one of the encoders starts sending his transparent data to the VIP XD the VIP XD send his data only to that encoder unit. If the encoder stops sending out his data then a lease time of 5 seconds starts. After this 5 seconds the transparent channel is open from the VIP XD to all encoders again.
Which VGA resolutions are supported at the VIPXD?
The VIP XD VGA output is optimized for resolutions between 640x480 and 800x600 pixels.
Can VIDOS-NVR record VJ/VIP in TCP port 80 mode?
No, VIDOS-NVR needs to contact the units with the full access over UDP to get a video connection to the device.
Can I control an Autodome over a transparent data channel?
Can I use the KBD-digital over a VIP's or VJ's transparent RS485 data channel to control a DIVAR?
No, this doesn't work. There is a timing conflict because the transparent data channel has an end-to-end delay of 120 milliseconds (MPEG-4).
What voltage do the VIP and VideoJet encoders require?
24 VDC, 500mA.
Which interface modes of the COM ports are supported on the Bosch IP Network Video products?
RS 232, RS 422 and RS 485.

Not directly, but you could use the RS232 to 16 channel Bi-Phase convertor, the LTC8786.

Yes, you can use the LTC5136 AutoDome controller keyboard or the LTC5138 Virtual keyboard for this. Set up an RS232 transparent data channel, connect the LTC5136 to one side, and the Autodome over RS232 on the other side.

Software
I have installed the new VIDOS Pro Suite but my Archive Player and Configuration Manager do not start. What could be the reason?
The new software modules of the VIDOS Pro Suite are using the performance counter to control the running processes, but we faced that on some computers the "performance counter" of the operating system is disabled. If the performance counter is switched off, the VIDOS Archive Player, Configuration Manager, VIDOS Monitor Wall and the VIDOS Server software modules can not start.
You need to switch the performance counter to "on". This can be done with a batch file we provide for download. Please do the following steps:
1.) Close all your running applications.
2.) Download the zip file, then extract and execute the file.
3.) Restart the computer.
4.) After that the applications run without an issue.
Can I use the same software license on more than one machine?
No. Once you have used the license (Authentication Code) associated with a PC hardware (Installation Code) to acquire the Activation Keys, you are not permitted to reuse it for another machine. The Activation Keys will only be valid for this PC and hardware configuration.
Can I do auxiliary commands (AUX) in the VIDOS management software?
Yes, it is possible with using the scripting functions in VIDOS.
Can we run a scan disk or a defragment program on the RAID drive of the NVR?
No, this is not allowed. If you do defragmentation you may change and destroy major relations in the database of VIDOS-NVR.
Can VIDOS-NVR record VJ/VIP in TCP port 80 mode?
No, VIDOS-NVR needs to contact the units with the full access over UDP to get a video connection to the device.
What is the maximum number of channels per VIDOS-NVR?
64 channles. Please take care that you do not exceed the maximum data through-put of 120 Mbps per VIDOS-NVR.
What operating system does VIDOS software require?
MS Windows XP is the recommened OS for VIDOS workstations. MS Windows Server 2003 the recommened OS for VIDOS-NVR.
Can I use a 16 channel VIDOS license in a 32 encoder system?
Yes, but you can only add 16 encoders to this VIDOS management software.

What about advanced replacements? Will old keys be able
to be reused?
The license transfer mechanism in SLMS will be used to solve this. The existing authorization code will be re-used to assign a new license activation key to the replacement unit. This is handled via Customer Service.
When I have a license for e.g. VIP X2, could this be split so I could
do 2 VIP X1?
No. IVMD licenses are bound to the type of hardware. You can not use a license e.g. for a VIP X1600 module on a e.g. VIP X2 or Dinion IP. You can even not use a VIP X1 license for one channel on a Dinion IP. Also a transfer is only possible to the same product type.
When licensing a VideoJet X20 or VIP X1600 must I do both respectively all four channels? Do I get multiple keys?
No, IVMD licenses are always per unit and enable IVMD for all available channels. You get one key per license and unit, and need only one transaction via SLMS to activate the license.
Can I choose to un-license a product after IVMD or IVA has been enabled?
No, an IVMD or IVA license will remain activated if enabled once. If the product failed, there is of course the possibility to transfer the license to the new product. So your investment will not be lost.
What happens when a piece of hardware fails and it requires replacement but has been licensed for IVA?
IVA licenses can be transferred using SLMS, the same system that is used to activate an IVA license, to which Customer Service and Tech Support have access. The license transfer follows the same mechanism used for e.g. BVMS, DIVAR, VRM.
