Rugged design meets video analytics

The true potential of MIC IP cameras is the combination of their rugged design with built-in Intelligent Video Analytics that is specifically designed for the most demanding environments.

Taking a new world of exciting possibilities to the extremes

Bosch is introducing a revolutionary new range of MIC inteox 7100i cameras. They run on the new INTEOX open camera platform, which enables app developers and integration partners to easily develop unlimited software apps based on a common language, while leveraging all the valuable data from built-in Intelligent Video Analytics and Camera Trainer. System integrators can customize security solutions with ease to meet specific and changing customer requirements by adding apps and deploying them into INTEOX cameras. And in addition to their open architecture, all MIC inteox models share the same DNA as the rest of the MIC camera family. Taking a new world of possibilities to extremes.

Extremely robust cameras

No matter how tough conditions get, a video surveillance operation must always go on. That’s why Bosch has taken extreme measures to develop its MIC IP family of extremely rugged moving cameras even further. MIC IP cameras are built to perform in practically any environment.

The solid metal bodies of MIC IP cameras can withstand severe weather conditions. That includes high winds, rain, fog, dust and 100% humidity (UL Type 6P and IP68), temperatures from -40°C to +65°C, extreme vibrations (IEC60068) and high impacts (IK10). The superior metallurgy and finish of the MIC IP cameras provide exceptional protection against corrosion. The MIC IP starlight 7100i and MIC IP ultra 7100i are designed to satisfy salt-water and marine requirements with an ISO12944-6: C5-M (High) Aluminum Housing Components rating. They also feature a new drive train, enabling them to track slow moving targets as smoothly as possible. And all MIC IP cameras are guaranteed never to lose their homing position, returning to a preset position over the life of the camera.

Video analytics to improve levels of security

The true potential of the MIC IP cameras is the combination of their rugged design with built-in Intelligent Video Analytics that is specifically designed for the most demanding environments. Even in the most extreme conditions, video data can be interpreted directly at the source to further improve the level of security or enable the video data to do more than security alone.

The built-in Intelligent Video Analytics perfectly matches the robust design of the MIC IP cameras. This type of video analytics stands out from other video content analysis solutions because of its ability to differentiate between genuine security events and known false triggers. Triggers such as challenging environments with snow, wind (moving trees), rain, hail, and water reflections. Intelligent Video Analytics enables the detection of objects over large distances. When combined with the thermal imaging capabilities of the MIC IP fusion 9000i, it is the perfect solution for early object detection in mission-critical applications like the perimeter protection of airports, critical infrastructures and border patrol.

But these cameras also take a significant leap in what’s possible with built-in Intelligent Video Analytics and Camera Trainer functionality. The next step in the development of Video Analytics, this exciting development introduces “machine learning” capabilities to MIC IP cameras. They can be trained to detect objects or situations that matter most to customers. This fits perfectly in today’s market where there is no “one-size-fits-all” when it comes to security, or delivering data for business intelligence. It is this ability to identify new, user defined parameters, combined with existing alarm rules and filters that promises even greater accuracy and flexibility.

Maximum situational awareness

Metadata fusion

The MIC IP fusion 9000i offers a unique feature in terms of video analytics: metadata fusion. It fuses the metadata of the camera’s built-in optical and thermal imager, providing users with full situational awareness - regardless of whether it’s the optical or thermal video stream that’s being watched. Metadata fusion helps users to focus on ‘invisible’ things that need attention. If an event is detected, but is not necessarily visible in the video stream being watched, an alarm is triggered anyway and users can simply click the alarm overlay box. The user will then see the video data related to that event.

Video analytics while moving

Another innovation offered by all MIC IP models is video analytics while moving. An operator is alerted, or the camera’s Intelligent Tracking feature is triggered, the moment a moving object or person is detected while the MIC IP camera is panning, tilting or zooming. Once Intelligent Tracking is activated, it ensures that moving objects are automatically tracked. Optimal capture of the moving objects is assured by dynamically adjusting the field of view.

Image quality

Besides their rugged exterior, all MIC cameras have what it takes to deliver the highest quality of relevant video images - regardless of lighting conditions, time-of-day or object movement.

Areas of expertise

Intelligent bitrate management and data security

All MIC IP cameras offer Intelligent Dynamic Noise Reduction and intelligent streaming, combined with H.265 video compression. Depending on the content of the scene, this reduces bitrate by up to 80%. It helps to keep video data manageable, while substantially reducing network strain and storage requirements, without compromising video quality. Like all Bosch network cameras, the MIC IP models offer various software and hardware measures, such as a built-in Trusted Platform Module, to keep video data secure.

Easy installation

Configuring and calibrating video analytics has never been easier and can be done in very little time by anyone. Simply enter the height of the camera and the rest of the calibration is carried out by the video analytics itself, based on information derived from the camera’s positioning sensors.

The out-of-the-box installation allows installers to pre-configure the MIC IP cameras while they are still in the box. Thanks to MIC DCA mounting accessories, the installation becomes even easier and can be done by a single person. Simply ‘hook’ the MIC to the DCA mount using the hinge feature and safely connect the electrical wires to the camera. The optional VIDEOJET connect 7000 supports High Power over Ethernet to connect multiple MIC IP cameras, which makes it an ideal configuration for installations along perimeters or highways.
